Yes, the model LVS 143 has a 210 Wh battery and the model LVS 162 has a 300 Wh battery. They both have the same rated power (250W). The smaller version is 3.4 kg and can deliver up to 350W maximum output power. The larger model can deliver up to 400W maximum output power. The user cannot remove the battery as it is incorporated in the hub, but our Wanaka workshop can replace or repair the system when needed.
Le Velo Studio is a reinvention of the e-bike and how we should use them. We like to call it the “infinite” range in opposition to standard e-bikes where the ride is over when the battery is flat. It will help people to reconsider their transport, to be conscious consumer and ride their e-bike as a real bike, and not a moped or a motorbike, as we see more and more.
There is obviously no system to regenerate energy and have an infinite battery range (would be so cool to have this techno one day but we don’t 😊) But Le Velo Studio e-bike is so light, it can be ridden with or without power assistance.
When the battery is full, it offers a maximum range of 50 km on a single charge depending on the level of assistance used, riding conditions, weight of the rider and type of e-wheel. When the battery is empty, you can still pedal the bike like a high-end push bike.
We are using carbon fibre and top end components and transmission, similar to top level gravel or road bikes.
No, you can decide to ride the bike with no phone and no computer, just using the solar powered button on your handlebar to change the power level. There is no start button or useless wired connections. You just pedal and the motor will start in the same power level you stopped it on our last ride.
But the App is necessary the first time to calibrate the motor and can be very useful during he ride to get a number of data (current speed, battery level, average speed, power output etc..)
You even can get a computer holder to install in 3 sec our bike computer (optional and Bluetooth) or your phone on the handlebar.
It depends on the usage of the rider, especially for commuters. But we usually prefer a smaller battery to save weight, to keep a super light bike, agile, safe to ride.
For a standard e-bike, the problem is different because the ride is over when the battery is empty. But for Le Velo Studio, as both version of the ewheels offer the “infinite” range, there is no more range anxiety.
We decided not to go with mid drive engines for major reasons. They contribute largely of the programmed obsolescence of standard e-bikes. The frame design is the consequence of the design of the mid drive engine (it explain why standard e-bikes are heavy, bulky and often dangerous to ride). Mid drive engines have only one interest for steep hill climbs on dirt, like serious MTB trail. But for commuting, city riding, touring, road, gravel, and a majority of the rides, the e-wheel will be an easy winner.
The battery of the Le Velo Studio takes approximately 2 hours for the LVS143 ewheel and 3 hours for the LVS162 ewheel. We also have a PD charger that you can put in the tool box of the frame to recharge your bike during a lunch break or an appointment. It weighs only 100 grams and can fast recharge your phone too.
Le Velo Studio ebike weighs only 12.3 kg with the LVS143 e-wheel. With the LVS162 ewheel it is an extra kg, and appr 300 gr and 650 grs for the fenders and rear rack if you choose those options. A majority of e-bikes weigh more than 25 kg.
It is a game changer
Le Velo Studio is versatile and designed for commuting, city riding, gravel, and road use. It even can go on MTB trails if you have enough piloting skills, but it is not a MTB and not designed for jumps or extreme downhills.
You will enjoy it the most for everyday use, and has impressive capabilities on gravel trail.
There is a solar powered button on the handlebar and you can chose the power mode you like with the e-wheel. When you use the ebike with no power, you just press OFF on the App or on the solar button.
If you go for a touring adventure or a super sporty gravel ride with friends and do not want power assistance, we would suggest you to swap the rear e-wheel with a push wheel, you will save 2.5 kg which is an important gain. The bike comes with two dropouts that allow you to switch between e-wheel and push wheel configurations easily. In the push wheel configuration Le Velo Studio weighs less than 10 kg and becomes a high performance carbon fiber bike that you may even use for racing. It has been tested by pro riders, and you would be surprised by the performance.
The maximum tyre clearance is up to 50 mm, making it suitable for a variety of gravel and off-road conditions. The bike comes with 700X40C gravel tyres as we believe this is the best combination for lot of clients, but you can change for any tyres up to 50 mm.
Yes absolutely. When you order your bike, just indicate how tall you are, and we will assemble your bike with the appropriate stem and seat post. It fits all riders from 155 cm to 195 cm. If in the same household you have riders (appr) from 165 cm to 185 cm, you all be able to use the same bike without changing any components.
But for a tall rider more than 190 cm, we would recommend the longer stem, and for a short rider smaller than 165 cm, we would recommend the shorter seat post.
You even can have one bike and 2 seats posts with 2 saddles, this way it takes about 10 sec to change the seat post if you need to.
As part as our commitment, all parts of Le Velo Studio bike are available on the website and will be in stock to be shipped same day, or maximum 24 hours after the order. As bike lovers and owners of multiple bikes, we always find hard when we need to pay for a spare proprietary component sold at crazy price because the client is locked. This is why all components of Le Velo Studio are non proprietary. They have been priced to be very competitive using our Direct to Consumer model, and if you would like to use other components from your favourite bike shop or brand, you are welcome to do it.
Even our ewheels and frame are available to be purchased separately at competitive pricing. You could decide to use any components or groupset to build the bike of your dream if you prefer other components.
